The B1/B2 is the most common U.S. visa category for Bangladeshi travelers — B1 covers short business trips (meetings, conferences, contract negotiations) while B2 covers tourism, family visits, and medical treatment. Most applicants apply for a combined B1/B2 visa, which allows both purposes under a single stamp.

B1/B2 Visa Fee

• MRV application fee: $185 (non-refundable, paid before the interview is scheduled)
• Fee is payable in local currency at the rate set by the Embassy
• An optional expedited appointment fee of $750 is currently available at select posts (through Dec 31, 2026) for applicants who need an interview slot within 10 business days — this is on top of, not instead of, the $185 base fee
• Important — Bond requirement: Since January 21, 2026, Bangladeshi nationals approved for a B1/B2 visa may be required to post a bond of up to $15,000. The consular officer informs applicants at the interview whether they must pay this bond and provides payment instructions — applicants should never pay in advance or through any third-party website. Interview Process

1. Complete the DS-160 online application form and pay the MRV fee
2. Create a profile and schedule your appointment through the official CEAC/appointment system
3. Attend your interview at the Embassy with your passport, DS-160 confirmation page, appointment letter, and a 2×2 photo, along with supporting documents (bank statements, employment/business proof, travel itinerary, invitation letter if applicable)
4. Biometric fingerprinting is done as part of the visit
5. The consular officer decides eligibility on the spot and will inform you if the new bond requirement applies to your case

Arrive about 15 minutes early — electronics (phones, smartwatches, cameras, anything with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/GPS) aren’t allowed inside, and there’s no storage for personal items at the gate.
