Japan is visa-free of charge for Bangladeshi nationals, though a full application is still required, and it now runs through VFS Global rather than embassy walk-ins.
Visa Type: Temporary Visitor visa for tourism, business meetings, or visiting relatives/friends, allowing stays of up to 90 days.
Fee: The Japanese government visa fee is FREE for Bangladeshi nationals. You only pay the VFS Global service charge of about BDT 1,900–2,090 per application.
Embassy/VFS Details: Since November 2024, applications are submitted at the Japan Visa Application Centre (VFS Global), Delta Life Tower, 4th Floor, Plot #37, Road #90, Gulshan-2, Dhaka-1212 — the Embassy of Japan no longer accepts walk-in applications. (Embassy consular section: Plot No. 5 & 7, Dutabash Road, Baridhara, Dhaka.)
How to Submit: Book a VFS Global appointment (slots for the following month typically open around the 15th of each month), then submit documents and biometrics in person. Standard processing is about 5–7 working days once the file is complete.
Documents Checklist:
Guarantee letter and guarantor’s documents, if travel costs are sponsored
Application form and valid passport (plus photocopy)
Old passport(s), if any, with photocopy
One recent photo (2 inch × 1.4 inch)
Return air ticket booking
Hotel booking and day-by-day visit schedule
Invitation letter and relationship proof, if invited by a guarantor in Japan
Six months’ bank statement
Tax/income certificate (last 3 years, if applicable)
